I had just visited the northernmost inhabited island of Japan, the northernmost city, and used the northernmost ferry service. Wakkanai is not easy to reach. It requires a 5,5 hour train ride from the nearest big city Sapporo. That train only goes back and forth twice a day. So the next morning I had to catch that train, missing it was just not an option - at half past 6 in the morning.
