The waterfalls are so tall, and the amount of water flowing out is so small, that the base of both waterfalls is a calm stream. You can hardly see any water flowing from the waterfalls into this stream, because there simply isn't that much to be had in the first place. It makes for a nice and calm place (if it weren't for the noisy tourist groups).
