The northeastern peninsula called Shiretoko has a host of attractions for lovers of nature. Including bears. But also beautiful lakes and waterfalls. I lodged in Shari, a small town just before entering the Shiretoko peninsula. It's a convenient place to remain close to a train station, and also have easy bus access into Shiretoko.
