Fukushima

It's that place that suffered the worst from the 2011 Tōhoku Earthquake and Tsunami. The Daiichi nuclear power plant got critically damaged to the point of nuclear meltdown, rendering a large area around the disaster unsuitable for living, for many centuries ahead. However, that's not where I went. Fukushima city is roughly 70 kilometres from the exclusion zone, and radiation levels are completely safe, even for an extended stay. The city itself feels very normal, but the prefecture still hides a couple of gems...
