The Daiichi nuclear power plant got critically damaged to the point of nuclear meltdown, rendering a large area around the disaster unsuitable for living, for many centuries ahead. However, that's not where I went. Fukushima city is roughly 70 kilometres from the exclusion zone, and radiation levels are completely safe, even for an extended stay.
