Himeji is that city just west of Kyoto, that got destroyed in WOII. Except for the castle, so it didn't need to be rebuilt as a strange concrete building. Instead, Himeji castle is fairly original. And better yet, it's been renovated in the past five years, and just came out of it at the end of March. For that, I was just in time. And for that, I was in the middle of a crazy amount of people. Since the cherry blossoms were also in full bloom still, it was to be expected.
