As Tashirojima is now a tourist destination, albeit quite unpopular still, population on the island is dwindling to below 100. As a result, after an islander is deceased, their house is oftenly abandoned, leaving sheds especially vulnerable to the elements in disrepair. The number of cats has already outgrown the number of islanders by a factor of six to one!
