If you ever plan to visit Ōkunoshima, make sure to take an entire day. It may not look like a full day's worth even if you will be on the island for 2 or 3 hours. But the ferry and the trains are so badly connected, it's easily going to set you back 2 hours (one way) from any of the cities nearby.
